Outstanding Alumni of the Year Award
The Outstanding Alumni of the Year Award commenced in 2005 and was an initiative by the University Foundation to recognise an alumnus (graduate) who has attained significant achievement in their field of endeavour. Fields may include:
- professional
- academic, including research
- community
- other
Nominations can be made from USC staff, graduates, the Alumni Relations office, faculty Deans and the community.
Final selection is by a panel of senior staff, including Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Thomas AM.

Dr Craig Hansen, BSc(Public Health) 2002, BSc (Hons) 2003, PhD 2007
Dr Craig Hansen was recognised for his doctoral and postdoctoral research in epidemiology (the study of diseases in populations) which included field work in the South African township of Soweto.
