GOLD Native Tree Project

Alumni donors William Darby, Jaci Smith, Carolyn Siddel on alumni way

The University of the Sunshine Coast has embarked upon a A$5 million fundraising campaign called Building Excellence.

A new alumni program called GOLD (Graduates Of the Last Decade) has been launched to provide a special opportunity for graduates to become involved in the campaign and leave a legacy on campus.

The GOLD Native Tree project falls under the Campus Enhancement initiative of the Building Excellence campaign.

While gifts to any area of the campaign are greatly appreciated, USC’s earliest graduates are invited to participate by sponsoring a tree (Waterhousia floribunda or Weeping Lily Pily) to be planted along a new pathway – “Alumni Way” – linking the main campus with the new Health and Sport Precinct.

Trees along a section of Alumni WayAlumni donors of A$250 or greater to any area of the campaign will have their names permanently engraved on a donor wall within the new Health and Sport Centre (due for completion mid-2008), leaving a lasting recognition of their personal support. Five-year pledges of A$50 per year are also gratefully accepted.

The Australian native tree-lined path will pay tribute to the University’s graduates and represent the Sunshine Coast’s grassroots spirit that has helped USC thrive. Participation in the project is available until the end of 2009, with over 40 alumni having particpated to date.

Some of the reasons why alumni have participated include:

"The University provided me with the opportunity to grow my knowledge and my career and I wanted to give something back".
Ben Hancock MFinPlan 2006

“I am proud to support my university. USC was the foundation for my current career. This is my way of saying thank you USC”.
Johanna Henderson BA 2006

"I had a very positive experience at USC as a pioneering public health student. I am proud to be a USC alumna."
Eta Brand BSc(PubHlth) 2002

Thank you to our alumni for your generous support and investment in the future of USC. Participation in the campaign is what really matters—not the size of the gift.

Donations are tax deductible for Australian tax purposes.
