Fraser Island is a World Heritage Area located off the southern coast of Queensland. It is a complex ecosystem of sand dunes, lakes and subtropical forests that grow solely on sand, and is an outstanding global example of continuing biological and geological processes.
Over 120 kilometres long and over 22 kilometres across at its widest point, the island has developed over 800,000 years and is both a unique natural environment and an ideal location for scientific research.
The Kingfisher Bay Research and Education Facility located at Kingfisher Bay Resort, is a facility for advanced level environmental and eco-tourism research, and education (primarily for rangers and university groups).

Dilli Village is an environmental education camp for secondary and tertiary level students, located on low sand dunes 400 metres from the beach.
The Village provides accommodation for students and staff, and access to field study sites for primary, secondary and tertiary student groups. Researchers and groups with genuine environmental interests in the region are encouraged to use the site.
Dilli Village also provides an eco-edu-tourism experience for island visitors including persons wishing to use the Village as a starting point for activities associated with the Great Walks. Additionally, Dilli Village welcomes private individuals such as family groups, day visitors and small group tours.

There are 5 cabins, each of which has a double bed and single bunk above in one bedroom, with a double bunk in the other bedroom, in total sleeping up to 5 people. One bedroom cabins are also available. Each cabin has a toilet and shower, as well as a small kitchenette with sink, fridge, kettle, toaster, and microwave. Crockery and cutlery are provided.
There are 5 buildings with 4 rooms in each building. Each room contains 1 double bunk bed, accommodating 2 people. Total capacity of 40 people.
The campsite can accommodate a number of tents of differing sizes.
The University of the Sunshine Coast has obtained information from two catering firms who are available to provide catering services at Dilli Village. Their contact details can be provided when enquiring by email to mjenkins@usc.edu.au. Caterers may hire the kitchen and dining hall for use.
The cabins are partially self-contained (microwave but no oven). Additionally, a number of barbecues are available for guest use, free of charge. Please advise us of your requirements at the time of your booking.
Groups may hire the kitchen and dining hall for self-catering purposes.
The female amenities block has 3 showers, 3 toilets, and 3 hand basins to cater for campsite and bunkhouse users. The male amenities block has 2 showers, 2 toilets, and 3 hand basins. A new toilet block has also recently been built with the original amenities block being converted to a shower block.
Picnic and barbecue areas, lawn area, picnic tables, toilets and hot showers.
A commercial kitchen is available for hire for groups requiring catering.
A public telephone is located next to the office.
Fraser Island is a World Heritage-listed site, and all rubbish brought to the Island by users must be taken off the Island. This is the responsibility of each hirer/group. If this may be a problem for you, please discuss at the time of the booking.
Dilli Village operates principally as an environmental education camp. As such, we aim to remain as flexible as possible with your check in and check out times. However, where there is another group booking on the day of your departure, we ask that you respect our standard departure time of 10am, to allow cleaning of the room/site to occur. If this is not possible, please discuss arrangements at the time of your booking.

All group bookings are required to be finalised at least 14 days in advance of your planned visit. Groups are encouraged to contact the bookings office to discuss reduced fees for first time use, and recurrent group rates and educational discounts.
