Activities for schools

The University of the Sunshine Coast provides a range of activities for students, their families, teachers and guidance officers to explore career opportunities and tertiary education. You can access USC in several ways:

USC's Schools Liaison Team will deliver in your school, presentations on USC programs, campus life, services, facilities, costs, scholarships, accommodation, GO program and the Headstart program, with opportunities for students to ask questions of our Student Ambassadors. Presentations can be tailored to meet your specific needs.

Information sessions are presented to students interested in participating in the USC Headstart program during Years 11 and/or 12.

Science Integrated Curriculum Date: January–December
Year levels: 11 and 12

Involves integrating selected USC courses into Year 11 and 12 work programs that are approved by the Queensland Studies Authority (QSA), enabling students to undertake a university course that is not in addition to their school work programs. QSA approval exists for a biology program, with a chemistry work program pending approval.

Food 4 Fought Year levels: 11 and 12, science teachers

‘Food 4 Fought’ is the Sunshine Coast regional program which provides a taste tester of a primary industry occupation for senior science students and paves a pathway through tertiary science education to pursue this career. The program includes:

December 2008: Student science conference and professional development for teachers
January 2009: Student industry placement and student report back session

Enterprise Tuesday introduces participants to the world of business and inspires individuals to pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions, whether in business or social ventures.

Enterprise Tuesday is a free evening program that is open to the local business community and to all staff and students from the University of the Sunshine Coast and the regions' educational institutions.

Each evening concludes with a networking session with drinks and refreshments. This provides ideal opportunities to meet new people, discuss business ideas and find potential team members.

Facilities and services

The University of the Sunshine Coast Library provides access to a range of resources and services for schools.
  • Library tours for senior students can be scheduled by arrangement
  • school students are welcome to use the resources available onsite in the University Library
  • students enrolled in Year's 10, 11 and 12 at schools in the Sunshine Coast region encompassing Caloundra, Maroochy, Noosa and Cooloola shires are eligible to register for borrowing privileges
  • no registration fee applies for eligible students and teachers employed at secondary schools in the Sunshine Coast region
