Campus enhancement
Goal: A$500,000
Objective: three campus beautification projects
The University of the Sunshine Coast, located adjacent to Mooloolah River National Park, is renowned for its architecturally and environmentally striking campus. Award winning buildings, wild kangaroos, state-of-the-art facilities and an environmentally sensitive approach combine to create a unique learning environment at Sippy Downs.
As the University expands in line with its master plan, aspiring to develop into a university village, there is much development to be done to reach the projected capacity of 15,000 people on campus by 2021. During this growth phase, it is essential the University protect and enhance its natural surroundings.
Three campus beautification projects are the focus of the Building Excellence Campaign:
- landscaping and the sculpture, Pulse, in the Gallery courtyard
- enhancing the University's central hub with landscaping between the Library and Building C, and
- a native tree-lined path from the sports stadium
Through a new alumni program, GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade), USC graduates are being asked to consider leaving a legacy by giving A$250 to plant a native tree on campus. The trees will line a new pathway, called Alumni Way, which will link the main campus with the new Health and Sport Precinct.
With a campaign target of A$500,000, the goal is to create a visual splendour at the centre of the University. With your support, these beautification projects will create a stimulating landscape for learning and leave a lasting legacy for others to enjoy for many years to come.
