Health and Sport Centre
Goal: A$3.5 million
Objective: Establishment of a state-of-the-art health and sport centre
Health and sport are becoming increasingly important in Australian society - and building healthier communities is one of the University’s top priorities.
The University is planning a health and sport precinct on campus for University and community use. This will enable the University to play a vital role in addressing this national issue.
The multi-million dollar precinct will comprise an indoor stadium with playing courts (opened in July 2007), multi-sport playing fields, and associated physical fitness facilities.
A multi-storey health and sport centre will be the headquarters of this precinct, and will be positioned adjacent to the indoor sports stadium.
With a campaign target of A$3.5 million, the Building Excellence Campaign will leverage private support with public funding to build this health and sport development.
The new Health and Sport Centre will include health testing and research laboratories, a fitness centre and the customised and expanded premises of the Centre for Healthy Activities, Sport and Exercise (CHASE) and its health clinic.
Additionally the Centre will provide enhanced facilities for research and technology development, prototype design and testing. There will be space for student ventures, as well as synergetic office space for public and private allied health organisations.
The University needs your support to create this state-of-the-art community health and sport initiative.
