Innovation Centre
The Innovation Centre is a Business Incubator and Business Accelerator designed to support the start-up and growth of innovative businesses on the Sunshine Coast.
Located on the University's campus, the Innovation Centre aims to create jobs in knowledge based businesses in the Knowledge Precinct developing around the University at Sippy Downs.
The University established the Innovation Centre to:
- contribute to economic development in the region
- provide business incubation services
- attract incubator clients and tenants that link with the University
- enable the University to strengthen industry links, and
- provide opportunities to commercialise University research
Sunshine Coast Regional Council is taking a leading role in developing a technology park adjacent to the University’s campus, which will enable graduating and high-growth companies from the Innovation Centre and the Accelerator to be retained in the region. The technology park will also focus on attracting high-tech growth companies and service providers.
In collaboration with the University, the Innovation Centre runs the Enterprise Program, which includes:
- Entrepreneurship courses – open to all USC students
- Enterprise Tuesday – a free evening program
- Enterprisers – an intensive course run partnership with the University of Cambridge and developed by the Cambridge-MIT Institute
- Student Business Centre – office space and mentoring to develop business ideas
Supported by all three levels of government and the business community, the Innovation Centre Sunshine Coast Pty Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary company of the University of the Sunshine Coast.
