The University serves the region through projects and initiatives in learning and teaching, research and innovation, and through regional links with the community and regional organisations.

Learning and teaching

Projects and initiatives in learning and teaching:

  • ensure that programs and courses are based on student and regional needs
  • increase the number of regional placements for internships and practical learning
  • pursue learning pathways with other education providers
  • track graduate retention within the region, and
  • provide opportunities for student entrepreneurship, including through the Sunshine Coast Student Enterprise initiative

Research and innovation

Projects and initiatives in research and innovation:

  • involve regional partners in innovation, research, and consultancy activities, and
  • strengthen the links between research active staff and the Innovation Centre

Regional links

Projects and initiatives that link the community and regional organisations will:

  • implement the University of the Sunshine Coast Innovation Centre project
  • progressively implement the Sports Precinct project
  • continue to foster regional social and cultural initiatives
  • establish strong links with the new public hospital at Kawana
  • develop shared infrastructure and community infrastructure on campus
  • develop regional IT infrastructure and capacity, and
  • develop and update memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with regional groups
