Student Ambassadors and University staff are available to visit your school to speak to students about university study. Topics include, pathways to university, why choose university, university lifestyle, degrees and study options, Headstart program, costs, scholarships, accommodation options and where to find good information.
A standard presentation runs for 30–40 minutes for large group audiences, however a rotation of smaller groups can also be arranged to provide more detailed personalised information. Presentations can be tailored to the year level, size of the group and available time. All presentations include a DVD viewing which familiarises students with the USC campus and facilities.
Student Ambassadors can also provide a general presentation about university life, suitable for Year 10 students. This presentation discusses all universities in general terms rather than focusing specifically on the degrees offered at USC.
Student Ambassadors travel with their own AV equipment including laptop, data projector and speakers and only require a room with a whiteboard or projection screen for their presentations.
Contact the School Liaison Officer to make a booking.
A campus visit is a great way for your students to experience USC first hand. Every university is different and students often appreciate getting a 'feeling' for a campus. Our small size and relaxed atmosphere appeals to many students looking for a more personalised university experience.
Depending on available time, tours may include a general campus orientation with visits to the Library, Art Gallery, computer labs and accommodation complexes. A presentation about university study, delivered in one of the lecture theatres is also included. Allow a minimum of 60 minutes for a brief tour and up to 2 hours for a more detailed tour.
Students from the Sunshine Coast will have the opportunity to find out about their tertiary study options as part of the USC-organised University Showcase which will be held from 23–27 March 2009.
Schools will have access to the Showcase, including eight universities, TAFEs and the Defence Force, to ensure the region's students are well informed about their future options.
Bringing all the exhibitors to the region provides a one-stop-shop for students interested in tertiary study and provides the opportunity to find out more about degree programs, admissions, tertiary study costs, accommodation and university life in general.
