Injury screening measurement and monitoring

Outriggers

Screening and measurement software can be used as a tool to identify high risk patients within two weeks of injury and subsequently identify the resources required to manage these individuals. Past research has shown that 20 percent of patients account for 80 percent of the rehabilitation costs.

The significance of this research is demonstrated as the project has successfully attained A$200,000 in funding from AusIndustry and local industry partners.

The aim of this research project is to improve the management of all patients and the resources required to treat these patients. Patient treatment can be categorised in terms of the likelihood of a compensable patient costing an insurer in rehabilitation expenses:

(a) more than A$10,000 or
(b) less than A$1000 and requiring

(a) more than 28 paid days off work or
(b) no paid days during the claim.
