Scheduled examination dates
You are expected to be available throughout the published examination period. Please see the academic calendar for the scheduled examination dates.
Examination timetable
You can access your end-of-semester examination timetable on USCCentral by clicking on Schedule>Examination Schedule. The examination timetable will be released at the commencement of Week 8. It is your responsibility to ascertain the correct timetable for your examinations.
Procedures
Make sure you understand and comply with the procedures that apply to centrally scheduled University examinations. These procedures have recently been updated and you are strongly encouraged to read them.

Centrally scheduled examinations may be held between the hours of 8am and 9pm on weekdays

Identification at examinations
Please present your Student ID Card at your examination venue. If you do not bring your Student ID Card, you will be required to produce another form of photo identification (eg Driver's Licence/Passport).
If you do not have a Student ID Card, you should obtain one from Student Administration before sitting for any subsequent examinations. A $10 fee applies for replacing lost cards.

Examination venues and parking
Check your timetable on USCCentral carefully to identify your exam venues. It is recommended you familiarise yourself with your exam venues before exam week commences and time your journey to ensure you arrive with plenty of time to spare on the day. Refer to the campus map for directions.
If your exams are at the Sports Stadium, please note:
- parking is limited at the Sports Stadium – student parking for all exams is on campus in existing student parking areas
- allow 7-10 minutes to walk from campus carparks to the Sports Stadium
- plan to arrive at the Sports Stadium at least 30 minutes before your exam is scheduled to commence
- bring an umbrella in the event of rain

Bags and personal items
All bags are to be left in the secured area provided by the University. If you are concerned about the security of any valuable items, you should make alternative arrangements for their care, as the University does not guarantee the safe keeping of a your personal items during an exam.
Electronic devices such as mobile phones dictionaries are not allowed in the exam room. If taken into the exam room they need to be switched off and placed face-up under the desk or beneath the chair. If they create a disturbance during the examination, you must surrender them to an invigilator and collect them after the end of the exam.
Personal items such as wallets, sunglasses and pencil cases or removed clothing are permitted in the exam room but must be placed under your desk or beneath your chair.
Invigilators will scrutinise permitted materials at their discretion and remove material that is not permitted.

Food and drink
Food and drink are not to be taken into the exam room except for water in a clear, unlabelled bottle.

Special arrangements
If you require special arrangements for your examination/s on the basis of a medical condition and ongoing or temporary disabilities, you need to make an appointment with a Counsellor/Disabilities Officer at the Student Services Office about lodging an Application for Special Arrangements.
In order for an application to receive full consideration, it must be accompanied by relevant medical or other supporting documentation as indicated. The application will not be considered without full documentary evidence. Contact the Student Services Office for further information.

Deferred examinations
If you, through medical or other exceptional circumstances, are unable to attend an examination at the required time, you may apply to sit for a deferred examination by completing the Application for Deferred Examination (PDF 35KB) form. Applications are made to Student Administration and should normally be submitted prior to or within three working days of the examination date.
The following are accepted as grounds for approval of a deferred examination by the Director, Student Administration (or nominee) provided relevant independent supporting documentation is provided:
- illness or serious health problem
- serious personal trauma
- a cultural or sporting commitment at State, National or International representative level
- jury duty
- Defence Forces Reserve commitments
- serious incapacity during the central examination period
- religious obligations, or
- exceptional family, work or personal circumstances.
Approval to sit a deferred examination will not be granted where you could reasonably have been expected to avoid the circumstances of missing or performing poorly in an exam, for example:
- holiday arrangements including international students returning home
- misreading an examination timetable, or
- social and leisure events including sporting or cultural commitments not at State, National or International representative level.
Limits on deferred examinations
An examination may normally be deferred no more than once (after the original scheduled examination). If you are again unable to undertake the scheduled deferred examination, a further deferral will not normally be granted.
You may make a written request to Student Administration, who will consult with the Course Coordinator and make a recommendation to the Dean of Faculty that:
- you are awarded a grade derived from the other assessment components in the course
- the Dean of Faculty approves another deferred examination, or
- your enrolment in the relevant course is cancelled without academic penalty.

Supplementary examinations
You will be offered supplementary assessment when you have obtained 50 percent or more in a course which contains hurdle assessment task/s, but you have failed a hurdle assessment task (refer to to the procedures for details). If you are granted a supplementary examination by the Faculty Assessment Board, you will be given an interim grading notation of SUPPLEMENTARY ASSESSMENT – EXAM (SU).

If you are not granted supplementary assessment and believe you are entitled to supplementary assessment, you may request a review using the University’s Review of Grade process.
