Where can I study overseas?
USC has exchange partnerships with over 70 institutions in:
- North, Central and South America
- Europe
- Asia
Study destinations and partner institutions are subject to change at any time, so be flexible when choosing an exchange destination.
What can I study overseas?
Visit the GO Program on USC's Portal (USC student log-in required) for what courses are available at our partner institutions.
Many institutions in non-English speaking countries offer classes in English or study in the host country's language with our In-country Language Program. *
Application deadlines *
- GO Program to North America, for study in the semester commencing August/September 2010, applications close on 26 February 2010

Where will I live?
In most cases you will have the option of living:
- in a residential college on campus
- accommodation close to the university
- with a host family—the best way to understand a country’s culture, language and customs
How long can I go?
You can study overseas for:
- a short-term program (a few weeks)
- one semester
- a full academic year, dependent on USC's agreement with the host University
What happens to my USC enrolment?
During your GO Program semester you will remain enrolled at USC. You will be required to do the equivalent of 4 courses (0.500 EFTSL) * of study overseas.
The census date for withdrawal without financial or academic penalty is USC's Semester 1 or 2 census date.
How much does it cost?
As you remain enrolled as a USC student your fees are paid under the same arrangements that apply to your current USC degree:
- students eligible to pay fees under HECS or HECS-HELP pay student contributions
- students who are not eligible to pay fees under HECS or HECS-HELP pay full tuition fees
- students on an international student visa pay fees based on their program of enrolment
You will need to budget for your own travel and living expenses (including accommodation and health insurance). Costs will vary depending on the country in which you choose to study.
Grants, scholarships and loans
USC and the Australian Government have grants, scholarships and loans available to help support your study overseas.
Eligible students can apply for the following grants, scholarship and loans:
- Overseas study grants
- USC Overseas Study Grant worth A$3,000
- OS-HELP
- IDP Student Mobility Scholarships
- Other grants
Who can apply?
To be eligible to apply for the GO Program you will:
- be enrolled in a full-time USC undergraduate degree program
- have completed eight courses in your degree
- be able to finish the last four courses of your degree at USC
- have at least an academic average GPA of 4.5
- have your faculty's approval
- meet appropriate language requirements, for in-country language programs in Indonesia, Italy and Japan.
International students
International students on a student visa and who are enrolled in an USC award program are eligible to participate in the GO program. However, international students studying at USC on a student visa
must not enrol in additional courses on the GO Program that will lengthen their period of enrolment. To do so would breach visa conditions.
