Employment experience
If you have more than six months experience in paid employment, it is recommended that you include these details on your QTAC application. Your employment does not have to be related to the courses you wish to study.
It is essential that your employment experience be substantiated by written statements from your employer/s or, if self employed, by your accountant, solicitor or tax agent. These statements should be on official letterhead and must include the information detailed below.
How to apply using employment experience
Step 1: Apply through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) by either:
- applying online via the QTAC online application service
or
- completing the Tertiary Study Application form contained in the QTAC Guide 2009, which can be purchased at newsagents from July 2008. Applications for the mid year intake can only be via the QTAC online application service
Step 2: Detail your employment experience in your QTAC Tertiary Study Application
Step 3: Provide written statements from your employer/s (on official letterhead) including:
- job title
- duties performed
- length of service - must include the date commenced and date finished (if not currently employed)
- type of employment (full-time, part-time or casual)
Step 4: If you have been self-employed, provide a statement from your accountant, solicitor or tax agent to your application form
Step 5: Note: a personal resume, curriculum vitae or tax return is not sufficient for assessment.
If you are 21 years or over and applying on the basis of work experience alone, you are encouraged to also sit the Special Tertiary Admission Test STAT. Results in STAT may be combined with your employment experience to increase your overall chances of admission.
