Personal Competencies Assessment (PCA) Statement

The Personal Competencies Assessment (PCA) is an Alternative Entry option which recognises that many aspects of an individual's life experience may result in the development of skills, abilities and knowledge that relate directly to the ability to undertake tertiary study successfully.

It is a written statement in which you address specific QTAC PCA categories to demonstrate your potential success at tertiary study. A six point rating scale is used with zero being the lowest and five the highest. Each category is given a weighting. (The University adopts QTAC's standard weightings to each category).

You are required to be aged 18 years and over to submit the PCA when applying for admission to the University.

It is strongly advised that before you decide to submit a PCA, you get advice from the Admissions Officer in Student Administration.

How to apply with a PCA Statement

1. Apply through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) by either:

  • applying online via the QTAC online application service
    or
  • completing the Tertiary Study Application form in the QTAC Guide 2009, which can be purchased at most newsagencies throughout Queensland and Northern New South Wales or from QTAC directly from July 2008. (Applications for the mid year intake can only be via the QTAC online application service).

2. Indicate 'Yes' for the question relating to 'Personal Competencies Assessment' on your QTAC application.
