USCCentral
All students must enrol in courses each semester or session online on USCCentral with the exception of the following student groups:
Prepare to enrol
After accepting your offer, you will need to decide what courses to study for the semester or session. Your recommended enrolment pattern will guide you on course selection. If you require further assistance with your course selection, please contact your faculty office.
Access the University timetable and start planning your study schedule. While this step is not essential, it will save you time in the event that some classes are full and no longer available.
Log on to USCCentral
Once you have selected your courses, log on to USCCentral to enrol using the User name and Password provided in the USC offer package that you receive in the mail. If you are unable to login, contact the Student IT Help Desk.
Enrol in courses
Follow these steps to enrol in courses:
- click on Enrol from the left-hand menu on USCCentral and find your selected class using either Search for Classes or Add a Class.
- add the selected class to your Enrolment Cart.
- repeat steps a. and b. above for all your selected courses for the current semester or session.
- when you have added all your courses, click on the Finish Enrolling button to complete your enrolment.
To confirm your enrolment:
- Click on Schedule/Class Schedule on the left-hand menu to view or print your class timetable to confirm that you have enrolled in your selected courses.
- Click on Finances/View my Account on the left-hand menu to check your fees.
Please note: USC does not mail invoices to students. It is your responsibility to print out your electronic invoice.
- If you need to prove your enrolment to Centrelink, print an unofficial transcript from USCCentral by clicking in Grades/View my transcript from the left-hand menu.
Changing your enrolment
From time to time, you may change your mind or your situation and need to alter your enrolment. When making any changes to your enrolment on USCCentral you will need to navigate from the left-hand menu and click 'Enrol'. From here the options for altering your enrolment and viewing recommended enrolment pattern will be displayed.
Add a course
You can add courses to your enrolment on USCCentral up until the end of Week 2 of the semester. You may do this either by adding the class number, if known, or using the class search option. Changes after week 2 will only be processed in exceptional circumstances and only with the approval of the relevant Course Coordinator, please see Student Administration. No enrolments will be accepted after the end of Week 3.
Swap a course
You will use the 'Swap a course' function on USCCentral when you want to change from one course to another, or to swap classes (eg tutorials, labs) within the same course.
Drop a course
You will use the 'Drop a class' function on USCCentral when you want to remove a course from your enrolment completely. Remember that if you drop a course after census date you will incur financial penalty and may incur academic penalty.
Interrupting your study
If, prior to census date, a student in their first semester of study finds they are unable to fulfil their study commitments they should contact Student Administration to discuss the possibility of deferring their commencement of the program.
A student, who has had an enrolment in at least one study period, can take up to a year off from studying by not enrolling in any courses for up to two study periods. Approval to do this is not required. However, students should be aware of any impacts this might have on their enrolment for future study and should look closely at the course prerequisite and requirements before making this decision.
If a student has no enrolment in a third consecutive study period then they will have their enrolment as a student discontinued. If at a later stage they decide to study at the University again they will have had an 'interruption in their studies' in which case they will need to reapply for entry to the University via QTAC for an undergraduate program or directly to the University for a postgraduate program. Admission is automatic as long as the conditions in the
Enrolment - Institutional Operating Policy 10.4 are met.
