Welcome to the University of the Sunshine Coast!

Orientation for all students is held prior to the start of each semester. Orientation is an event to help you and other first-year students settle into university life and celebrate the beginning of your academic year. Orientation includes both academic and social activities designed to introduce you to the various student support services.

The next Orientation week will be held in February 2009.

  • Enabling courses, and pre-Orientation courses commence prior to the start of semester.
  • International Orientation begins the week prior to the beginning of semester. Contact International Student Services for details.

What's on during Orientation?

Commencing prior to the start of each new semester, USC offers a variety of activities to familiarise you with staff and facilities, enable you to meet fellow students, help you finalise your enrolment, and importantly, have some fun!

During Orientation Week you will be able to attend the Official Welcome, enjoy the music and barbecues, go to your degree information sessions, find out essential information at the library sessions, IT network tutorials, and much more…

The Fraser Island Orientation Camp is held at the end of Week 1 in each semester and provides a perfect weekend opportunity to meet other students and the chance to explore some of the island's Great Walks trails visiting freshwater lakes, fishing, swimming and bird-watching.

Accommodation, meals and transport to and from the University's own camp Dili on Fraser Island are included in the cost. All students are welcome to attend this optional activity.

We’ve found that the students who make friends and are willing to become involved in the many new experiences that campus life offers are often those who gain the most satisfaction from the time they spend at university.

Orientation will help you:

  • get to know your campus, and access resources and services
  • make new friends, meet other students and staff
  • better understand your degree, academic expectations and assessment requirements
  • set-up online access, use the library and buy text books
  • celebrate – you made it!
