Indigenous Services
The University of the Sunshine Coast brings a fresh approach and a strong commitment to the support of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Australian South Sea Islander education.
The role of Indigenous Services is to encourage and support Indigenous students at USC. We offer:
- a friendly Indigenous presence on campus
- academic and culturally appropriate resources
- academic support
We also support and provide the University with information regarding Australian South Sea Islander, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and knowledges.
Students and community members are welcome to visit Indigenous Services for any reason and at anytime, however to ensure you get an appointment it is recommended that you book in advance.
Buranga Centre drop in times for students are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 10am and 12noon.
Indigenous Services is also responsible for:
- developing new programs and facilities available for USC's Indigenous students
- reviewing and evaluating current programs and facilities
The University offers the following courses in Indigenous studies:
- TPP106 Introduction to Aboriginal Societies.
- SCS130 Introduction to Indigenous Australia.
- SCS210 Indigenous Australia and the State.
TPP106 is an introductory course which does not contribute to a major course of study.
Either SCS130 or SCS210 course can contribute to a major course of study or can be considered as electives within any degree program.
