The Buranga Centre

The Buranga Centre rooms are open 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week and provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with a place to study and complete assignments or relax with friends. Facilities include:

  • computers
  • refrigerator
  • microwave
  • coffee/tea making facilities
  • study desks
  • comfortable lounging area

Barbecues and other social events are held in and around the Buranga Centre rooms to maintain social networks amongst students.

Student library

A library of text books and other reading materials is available from Indigenous Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to borrow to complete assignments and assist with study. A complete list of all our library resource books can now be accessed online through the USC portal. When you have logged on, go to the tab labelled Student Central at the top of the page. Once in the Student Central page click on Student Services on the left-hand side, then click on resource library.

The aim of the library is to provide an additional source of information to students but it is still recommended that students purchase their own textbooks due to the limited size of the library and range of text books available. The Buranga Centre receives the "Koori Mail" as well as "The Indigenous Times" on a regular basis, and these are also available for your perusal.

Student laptops

Indigenous Services has two laptop computers available for loan on an overnight basis. Students can use the laptops to complete assignments at home, rather than staying late on campus. The use of the laptops is for University work only and bookings are recommended.
