Academic English Intermediate programs

Direct Entry English Pathway (DEEP) Stage 1 or
IELTS Preparation/Intermediate

USC's Academic English Intermediate programs are excellent preparation for further studies.

Upon successful completion you can progress to Upper Intermediate English, or you can apply to enter USC's International Foundation Pathway (IFP) or other foundation courses, including some TAFE and diploma level programs.

The intermediate level programs are 10-week, full-time (25 hours per week) courses, that articulate into USC's upper intermediate programs.

Our intermediate programs offer:

  • skills to participate in seminars and lectures
  • essay writing
  • assessment includes assignments, reading and listening tests and an oral presentation
  • use of University facilities and resources
  • IELTS exam preparation (if enrolled in IELTS preparation)
  • a certificate on course completion (if satisfactorily attended)

Academic English Upper Intermediate programs

Direct Entry English Pathway (DEEP) Stage2 or

USC's Academic English Upper Intermediate programs are excellent preparation for USC's Tertiary Preparation Pathway (TPP) or other USC degree programs.

The upper intermediate programs are 10-week, full-time (25 hours per week) courses.

Successful completion of DEEP Stage 2 or IELTS Preparation/Upper Intermediate will satisfy the minimum English requirement for entry into USC's Study Abroad program, most undergraduate award programs, and some postgraduate programs.

Our upper intermediate programs offer:

  • academic skills and study strategies
  • practice with assessment items similar to those encountered during university studies
  • assessment including assignments, reading and listening tests and an oral presentation
