Direct Entry English Pathway

Direct Entry English Pathway (DEEP) is a full-time English language program (25 hours per week) for international students who wish to undertake further studies at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

  • No external English language examination (eg IELTS, TOEFL) is required for entry into the University
  • Assessment includes assignments, reading and listening tests and an oral presentation
  • The study pathway provides students with academic skills and study strategies, as well as practice with assessment items similar to those encountered during their university studies
  • There is opportunity within the program to experience a variety of lectures at the University of the Sunshine Coast

DEEP has three stages and entry points:

Stage English Program Duration
Stage 1 General English 1–25 weeks
Stage 2 Academic English Intermediate
10 weeks (set start dates)
Stage 3 Academic English Upper Intermediate 15 weeks (set start dates)

Students need to complete each stage satisfactorily in order to progress to the next stage. Satisfactory and full completion of Stage 3 is necessary for students to satisfy the English requirement for entry into a University of the Sunshine Coast Study Abroad degree program.
