International Foundation Pathway

The International Foundation Pathway (IFP) is a foundation pathway for students who do not meet USC’s English language requirements.

To gain entry to a USC undergraduate program through the IFP pathway, a student must successfully complete:

  • a USC Academic English program — 15 weeks (10 hours face-to-face teaching per week), and
  • two foundation-level courses — TPP101 Academic Skills for Success, and one of the following courses:

IFP students must achieve at least a Pass grade in each of the two foundation-level courses and a grade of Satisfactory in Academic English.

Please note that there is no advanced standing towards a University award program on the basis of completed International Foundation Pathway studies.

Entry requirements

To gain entry to the IFP, students must satisfy the University’s undergraduate academic entry requirements and have English proficiency of IELTS 5.5 (with no less than 5 on any subtest), TOEFL 525 (paper-based text) or 193 (computer-based test), or equivalent.

Tuition fee

The tuition fee for the one-semester IFP program is A$6,000. *
