Construction update

Construction complete.

Construction history

As of 24 November 2006:

  • Site fencing erected
  • Earthworks commenced
  • Contractor currently preparing for the construction of footings and slabs

As of 14 December 2006:

  • Services area slabs and footings poured
  • Pouring concrete tilt-up panel walls
  • Steelwork on site
  • Erection of steel commenced
  • Services sub-contractors appointed and ordering materials
  • Access roadworks progressing
  • Webcam arrangements in place.

As of 29 January 2007:

  • Structural steelwork substantially complete
  • Roof purlins in place
  • Roof sheets manufactured on site and being lifted into place
  • Roof slabs for plant support being poured
  • Last tilt-up wall slabs poured

As of 7 March 2007:

  • Roof and ceiling 95 percent complete
  • Rough-in services well advanced
  • External concreting proceeding
  • Glazing commenced
  • Painters on-site
  • Roadworks proceeding - but affected by rain

As of 20 April 2007:

  • Roof, ceiling and walls complete
  • Painting well advanced
  • Floor laying to be complete
  • Main stadium lights being installed
  • Vinyl floors in progress
  • Asphalt roads complete
  • Service roads in progress
  • Energex transformer installed

As of 28 May 2007:

  • Sports floor being painted
  • All surface finishes being completed
  • Sports equipment installed
  • Landscaping near completion
  • Roads complete

The Department of Education, Science and Training have contributed A$5 million to the construction of the indoor sports stadium, under the Voluntary Student Unionism Transition Fund.

The Queensland Government provided A$900,000 to USC for the indoor sports stadium project to get more Queenslanders active through sport and recreation.
