ICT services for students

Students have on campus and remote access to a comprehensive set of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) services including:

  • a network account with access to electronic services including desktop productivity software, network storage and the internet
  • access to the USC portal that delivers web access to email, information resources, discussion boards, and the University's online learning system (Blackboard)
  • an email account for communicating with other students, staff and internet users
  • access to online study materials for lectures and tutorials, timetables, Library catalogue and databases
  • online enrolment for courses and tutorial classes using SOLAR (Student OnLine Access and Registration)
  • printing, copying and scanning resources
  • an IT Services Student Guide and other online information and documentation
  • technical and service enquiries via the Student Help Desk

Facilities providing on campus access to ICT services include:

  • student computer laboratories, most with access 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Information Commons in the Library
  • wireless access and network connections for your own laptop, within the Library.

To access services remotely, students are required to have their own Internet Service Provider.
