Governance
The University is governed by the University Council, an 18-member Council representing University and community interests and led by a Chancellor and Deputy Chancellor. The University of the Sunshine Coast Act 1998 grants Council powers to appoint University staff and manage and control University affairs, property and finances.
USC also has a number of University committees including the Academic Board, the University’s senior academic body. The Academic Board was established under the University of the Sunshine Coast Act 1998.
Policies, plans, rules, guidelines and procedures guide all facets of the University's operations, under key areas of academic, campus, environment and facilities, community, finance, human resources, information and communications, information technology, library, research policies, structure and governance and student-related.
The University is committed to a process of continual quality improvement with quality systems developed to include planning, implementation and methods of review and feedback. Quality audits are also undertaken.
USC currently operates one wholly owned company (controlled entity): the Innovation Centre Sunshine Coast Pty Ltd (ICSC).
