Governance

University Council

The Council is the University's governing body. Council derives its powers from the University of the Sunshine Coast Act 1998. Council may appoint staff, manage and control the University's affairs and property, and manage and control the University's finances.

Council may also delegate its powers under the Act to a member of Council, a committee of Council, or to a member of staff.

The Chancellor, John Dobson, OAM, presides at meetings of the Council.

Academic Board

The Academic Board is the University's senior academic body. The Board was established under the University of the Sunshine Coast Act 1998 to advise the Council about teaching, scholarship and research matters concerning the University, to formulate proposals for the academic policies of the University, to monitor the academic activities of the University's faculties, and to promote and encourage scholarship and research at the University.
