Overview
Capital Programs and Operations centrally manages all space for the University. The primary space management objectives are to ensure that the use of all space suitably supports students in their educational programs of study and staff in their workplace endeavors. Wherever possible, student and staff needs are met, at the same time ensuring the University's assets are managed in a responsible and effective manner.
The University of the Sunshine Coast's approach to space management is to strive for best practice by developing, implementing and managing the undergraduate timetable, research centres and staff office allocations and workspaces.
Policy
1. Definitions
1.1 Normal Spread of Teaching Hours: Teaching may be conducted between 8am and 9pm Monday to Friday.
1.2 Timetable: The allocation of University teaching spaces to support the academic programs as agreed by faculties and published on the University's website.
1.3 Staff Office and Workstations: Includes all office space and open plan work areas as designed to accommodate all USC staff.
2. Principles
2.1 All University space is managed, maintained and developed by Capital Programs and Operations.
2.2 The University timetable is constructed by Capital Programs and Operations for students and is centrally developed to ensure best use of space and effective resource utilisation across the weekly spread of teaching hours, at the same time maintaining the principles of human scale as identified in the Strategic Plan.
2.3 Capital Programs and Operations manage the allocation of all staff offices and workspaces.
2.4 Non-timetabled rooms are available for other uses, such as hire to external clients, in accordance with the University's Act and Strategic Plan.
