Overview
The University of the Sunshine Coast is committed to providing opportunities for University staff to participate in workplace rehabilitation to facilitate a timely and safe return to normal duties following injury or illness. Rehabilitation will be available regardless of whether the injury or illness is work related, as early return to work programs benefit both the injured or ill staff member and the University.
Workplace rehabilitation will commence as soon as possible from the time of injury or initial treatment and will incorporate an accurate medical assessment and advice, and involvement of rehabilitation professionals. The University supports a flexible approach to return to work programs so that, where practicable, the rehabilitation needs of the individual can be accommodated. However, return to work goals must be achieved within a realistic time frame.
Workplace rehabilitation provides support to injured or ill staff, their family, supervisors, managers and team members. To be successful, workplace rehabilitation requires an open-minded willingness coupled with a collaborative approach from all stakeholders. The University will appoint accredited Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinators, based in Human Resources, to coordinate programs.
