School of Communication

The School of Communication is one of the most dynamic, innovative and diverse schools of its kind in any Australian university.

Our programs and courses attract students from around Australia and overseas and we aim to support the Sunshine Coast region by applying international best practice in everything we do.

The school’s professional development and creative degree programs offer a carefully balanced mix of real-world practical experiences informed by sound academic theory and a broad liberal arts education.

In addition to a comprehensive range of undergraduate degrees, we offer honourspostgraduate coursework coursework and research programs ranging from graduate certificates to doctorates in different fields, including creative arts and a PhD.

Our strong focus on work-integrated learning, with a range of unique internship-based courses and close working relationships with industry, commonly results in our graduates being actively sought after by major employers.

The School offers multiple combinations of courses in advertising, professional communication, design, creative writing, English, journalism, justice and legal studies, languages (Japanese, Indonesian and Italian), and public relations. Many of these courses are in programs which overlap with those offered in other schools and faculties across the university.

School staff are approachable and helpful. They are experts in their fields and pursue diverse research interests. Many have highly valued combinations of industry experience and related academic qualifications. They include internationally published and globally recognised authors, artists, designers, photographers, journalists, language teachers, legal specialists, and public affairs professionals.
