Profile

Associate Professor Gary Crew realised that a career change was necessary after 10 years as a draftsman with the Queensland public service, and undertook and completed a BA, consisting of a double major in literature and a double major in history. He completed his masters in literature then abandoned his PhD studies after 3 semesters when constraints of his teaching career and fiction writing absorbed his time. He has now published over forty novels and illustrated books for children.

As head of the English department of two high schools, Gary developed and supervised English programs which also necessitated the development of individual and small group programs for students with special needs.

As creative writing is a relatively new discipline in academic studies, he has been fortunate to develop many of his own courses including the current creative writing courses at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Electronic copies of various academic papers from Associate Professor Gary Crew are available on the USC Coast Research Database website.
