James Forsyth has worked for a number of Australian publishing companies since graduating from the University of Melbourne. He began teaching at the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2001, where he has taught in the areas of Creative Writing, Communication and Thought, and Australian and Cultural Studies.
James has recently completed a Master of Creative Arts at the University of the Sunshine Coast, investigating the process of structuring narrative. In 2006, he commenced a Doctor of Creative Arts (DCA) at the University of the Sunshine Coast entitled "Beyond Geography: Willing the World to Be." His thesis investigates the relationship between writing and cartography, specifically examining the ways in which the act of creative writing often seeks to 'fill' blank spaces.
