Profile
Dr Rhain Buth has a wide range of professional experiences stemming from his work as a white-collar defence attorney in the United States, with his primary areas of specialisation in money-laundering and project-based investigations. Rhain has worked in numerous multi-disciplinary professional teams, particularly in adversarial settings in the private sector. In the public sector, he worked in South Africa with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, in Northern Ireland with the Irish Emergency Parades Commission, with former United States Senator Paul Wellstone’s office as well as in other international settings.
Prior to arriving at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Rhain was the acting coordinator of the Socio-Legal Program at the University of Melbourne, and lectured in both criminology and socio-legal associated areas. His current research concentrates on socio-legal aspects of dispute management and conflict resolution in the Australian setting as well as investigating the potentials and limitations of law in relation to specific contemporary issues relating to multiculturalism, risk and globalisation.
