Profile

Dr Folker Hanusch is a practising journalist as well as a journalism academic. After spending his childhood and early professional life in Germany, he moved to Australia to take up studies for a Bachelor of Arts (double major in Journalism) at the University of Queensland in early 1999. This was followed by an honours degree in Journalism, as well as his PhD, which was awarded in early 2006.

Dr. Hanusch has also worked as a journalist for a number of years, both for German-language as well as Australian newspapers. He has been working as a section editor for the German-language weekly Die Woche in Australien since 2001 and has also published news stories in The Courier-Mail, worked at the Sunshine Coast Daily and was student editor of the University of Queensland School of Journalism and Communication’s The Queensland Independent during 2002.
