Profile
Gillian Cowden worked previously as a freelance journalist and website content developer. She has taught online journalism at the University of the Sunshine Coast since 2004 where she is the course coordinator for Writing for the Web and Digital Photojournalism and Feature Writing. Gill also teaches computer-assisted reporting, and organises journalism Work Integrated Learning placements, liaising with regional industry professionals.
Gillian edits, manages and maintains two journalism websites, which have been designed to publish and showcase articles written by students.
She is currently researching audience motivations for participation in the online news process.
Gillian presented a paper at the University's 2006 research conference. Her presentation was titled: How and why the internet changes the way people gather and consume news.
