Profile
Dr John Janzekovic lectures in Australian Politics and International Relations, and Communications at the University of the Sunshine Coast. He is also an invited international lecturer at Vaxjo University in Sweden conducting courses and seminars in Australian and Asia Pacific Politics, and Humanitarian Interventionist Politics.
Prior to entering academia, John was the Royal Australian Airforce (RAAF) Officer-in-Charge (Education Officer) and Head of School at the RAAF B707 and C-130 Hercules School at RAAF Richmond, and the F-111 Strategic Strike and Reconnaissance Aircraft School at RAAF Amberley. John has extensive experience in the military aerospace training environment, and he has completed a tour in military intelligence where he was involved in joint Australian and US military exercises.
His research interests include international and humanitarian law, interventionist politics, peace and conflict studies, terrorism and military ethics. His publications include articles on humanitarian intervention, international humanitarian law, the ethics and politics of intervention, and case studies of the conflict in Bosnia Herzegovina and Kosovo.
John is assistant editor for the theme of 'Humanitarian Intervention' in the academic journal Social Alternatives, and he is on the Editorial Board and a contributor and reviewer for the Journal of Human Security (JHS). He is an invited speaker at a number of international politics conferences, and has contributed academic papers to the Pacific Islands Political Studies Association (PIPSA), the Australasian Political Studies Association (APSA), Vaxjo University Press, Samlingsaffisch -Föreläsningsserie ht06 ‘The EU and the World’ Seminar at Vaxjo University in Sweden, and the 2008 2nd Global Conference: Evil, Law and the State in Salzburg, Austria.
