Profile

Professor Mary Katsikitis worked in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Adelaide as a senior researcher, mainly in the areas of emotion, pain and depression. She was part of a team that established a laboratory called the FACELAB to pursue research interests into the facial expression of emotion, where a computer-based facial expression measurement system was developed to track changes in expressive features through recovery from illnesses such as Parkinson’s Disease and depression.

Prior to leaving South Australia, Mary enjoyed a split appointment in psychiatry and psychology and also ran a private psychology clinic part-time. She moved to Melbourne in 2002 to join the team at the Australian Psychological Society and took up the position of Manager Science and Education. This position was renamed Manager, Science, Academia and Research in 2006.
