Profile

Dr Matheson leads the School of Communication's public relations and public affairs programs and coordinates the core communication course, Communication Theory and Practice.

Amalia’s PhD study was interdisciplinary in the areas of philosophy and literature, specifically ethical humanism and early 20th century English literature. Her research interests remain in these areas as well as in Australian politics, rhetoric and media, and public affairs.

Amalia’s professional background, prior to joining the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2005, was in political communication and lobbying. She also operates her own public affairs consultancy in Canberra and Queensland.
