Regional engagement

The Faculty's mission is to both meet regional needs and community aspirations and reach out to link the University and the Sunshine Coast to key knowledge centres to ensure its courses and research incorporate the latest international trends and issues and are at the forefront in both content and design.

Active engagement with the regional community ensures Faculty courses are relevant, student opportunities increased and abilities showcased and its research and knowledge diffused to promote sustainable business practices, growth and jobs on the Sunshine Coast.

Regional engagement activities are an integral part of the ongoing development of the Faculty of Business, essential for its success to become recognised as a premier faculty of learning and research in Australia.

Faculty initiatives to maximise regional engagement include:

  • Partnerships Program providing interaction with the regional community on key issues and speakers on emerging and relevant business issues
  • participation in Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), an organisation that develops links between students, their universities, their communities and both the private and public sectors through a sharing of student knowledge via community projects  
  • extensive staff involvement in a wide variety of regional forums for government, community and business
  • Faculty Advisory Committees involving regional and leading business representatives providing input on course development

Recent activities include Faculty leadership of:

  • tourism and event evaluation projects
  • assessment of regional training bodies
  • sustainable regional project
