School of Health and Sport Sciences
Welcome to the School of Health and Sport Sciences in the Faculty of Science, Health and Education.
The School represents areas that are key elements in the University’s strategic plan and offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with the Bachelor of Nursing Science and the Bachelor of Science (Sport and Exercise Science) being two of the most sought-after undergraduate programs at the University.
The School is proud to have an exciting blend of experienced staff from the fields of nursing, exercise and sport science, biomedical science and health promotion. With several world class researchers, the School’s expertise is highly sought-after throughout Australia and the world. For example, our health researchers are recognised as leaders in the field of mental health studies and are currently undertaking a world-first study in this area. Similarly, some of our sport scientists are working with several high-profile sports teams and organisations in the preparation for national and international competition (eg Australian Swimming, New Zealand All Blacks).
The School has state of the art facilities for students including CHASE (Centre for Healthy Activities, Sport and Exercise) with a range of health and sports professionals. The Centre provides professional support for research in healthy activities and its aims are to undertake research that assists in understanding and enhancing sport performance, and that supports the development of healthy activities in the community.
Following the recent growth of the School, we are progressing towards the inclusion of several new programs to offer to future students, including Paramedics and Occupational Therapy. Further additional programs can be anticipated and updates will be posted on this website regularly.
For a career in health or sport sciences, the School can provide high-quality teaching and support to help achieve a successful and enjoyable future.
