School of Science and Education

Welcome to the School of Science and Education in the Faculty of Science, Health and Education.

The School represents a recognition by the Faculty and University of the importance of these two areas in general, as well as science education in particular.

Disciplines

The School is divided into three key discipline areas, these include:

  • Environmental Sciences
  • Education and TPP
  • Science, Engineering and Enabling

Programs

The School offers a wide variety of programs that emphasise producing graduates with greater career options by equipping them with a degree that is more attuned to the job market.

While continuing to develop, globally and regionally, the School capitalises on its unique proximity to a large number of primary and secondary schools as well as strong ties to government authorities such as local councils and the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries.

The School is diverse with programs ranging from environmental science to engineering to early, middle and senior phases of teaching—both at undergraduate and postgraduate entry levels.

Following the recent growth of the School, we are progressing towards the inclusion of several new programs to offer to future students. Further additional programs and revisions to current programs can be anticipated and updates will be posted on this website regularly.

Research opportunities

Research efforts are strong in the School, attracting high levels of funding and recognition both locally and internationally. These include two research groups:

  • GeneCology Research Group
  • Sustainability Research Centre

The unique composition of the School—its quality of staff and its fit with the University’s commitment to education, regional engagement and research—places the School in a reputable position.
