Profile
Dean McCullum has taken on the leadership role in the food science component of the Bachelor of Food Science and Nutrition program offered by USC. Mr McCullum was educated in Sydney and completed a Master of Science in Food Science and Technology at the University of NSW in 1988. He gained a Certificate in International Food Law (Michigan State University) in 2003.
Mr McCullum was formerly a government senior food scientist for 11 years working primarily for Food Standards Australia New Zealand. His work involved the assessment of Australian and international food standards. He also was active in the development and delivery of international training programs in food regulatory systems for government agencies in the Asia-Pacific region. He has had secondments to the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service and the Wheat Export Authority.
Mr McCullum has prior academic appointments in Food Science at La Trobe University, Bendigo and at the University of New South Wales. He has also worked for Meadow Lea Foods Pty Ltd as a Development Chemist. He is an active member of the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology.
