Profile
Dr Peter Killen's interest in the design and construction of surfboards led to an Honours project at the Australian National University. His PhD at the University of Queensland developed a continuously breaking, oblique, stationary wave for the study of wave riding. His other research activities have included investigating the mechanical properties of bagasse, shock-wave compaction of powdered materials and x-ray diffraction analysis of shock-induced micro-structural changes in metallic and ceramic powders.
