Vice-Chancellor's Learning and Teaching Colloquium

At USC, good teaching and engaged student learning are core business. Learning and teaching builds human capital, allows students to access up-to-date research findings and prepares the next generation of workers, leaders and scholars.The business of this University contributes directly to society, both on the Coast and beyond it.

The Vice-Chancellor's Learning and Teaching Colloquium celebrates and explores good practice in learning and teaching at USC.

2009

The next Vice-Chancellor's Learning and Teaching Colloquium will be held on Wednesday 10 June 2009.

2007

Date: 30 May 2007
Theme: The Scholarship of Teaching
Program: Over 100 participants attended the program sessions, including a:

• discussion on currency, innovation and research in university learning and teaching
• keynote address, 'The scholarship of teaching in Australian higher education: A national imperative' (PDF 2.8MB), presented by Dr Marcia Devlin
• presentation by USC staff of research into their teaching practice, including Dr Philip Ablett, the 2007 Vice-Chancellor’s Medallist for Outstanding University Teacher

2006

Date: 31 May 2006
Theme: Enhancing Transition and the First Year Experience
Program: Seventy participants enjoyed a rich program, including a:

• student panel discussion
• keynote address from Professor Kerri-Lee Krause on ‘Transition to and through the first year: Strategies to enhance the student experience’
• presentation by Dr Maria Raciti, the 2006 recipient of the Vice-Chancellor’s Medal for Outstanding University Teacher
