The Library's mission is to provide quality services and collections that support the teaching, research and scholarship activities of the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Official opening of the Library building
The Library was officially opened on 4 November 1997, by the Right Honourable Sir Zelman Cowen, AK, GCMG, GCVO, QC, DCL. The Library received the 1997 Sir Zelman Cowen Award for Public Buildings, the top annual award for architectural excellence by the Royal Australian Institute of Architects.

Information Commons

Located on the entry floor of the Library building,the Information Commons provides a dynamic learning space where students can access most of their online information needs with support close by.
Official opening
The Information Commons was officially opened by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Clark and Heather Gordon, Executive Director, Information Services at 10.30am on 27 May in conjunction with Australian Library Week 2004.

The Information Commons has been designed to support individual study and also to encourage collaborative learning. Workstation desks and mobile cube stools enable small groups of students to work together around a screen.
