What's new in the Library building?

Herbarium

Work is underway for the new Herbarium which will be located on level one of the Library adjacent to the Reserve Room in climate controlled conditions.

The Herbarium is a collaborative project involving the Library, the Faculty of Science, Health and Education and Capital Programs and Operations, together with the Foundation Office and generous donations from local benefactors and the Queensland Forestry Research Institute.

The Herbarium will house a collection of plant specimens donated by the Queensland Forestry Research Institute. A collection of insect specimens and specimens collected as part of USC research activities will be added to the collection.

The Herbarium will form the basis for a valuable reference collection of plants growing in the region.

Library extension on Level 2, ICT Centre

Following the opening of the new Graduate Centre in Building B, the Library will extend in to the space previously used as the Postgraduate Room on level 2 of the ICT Centre. The extension will provide space for additional shelving to accommodate future growth of the Library collection, additional individual study seating, additional workstations and data and power for laptop users.

The area will extend the designated Quiet Zone currently available in the Library space in the ICT Centre.
