This report is Human Rights Watch's thirteenth annual review of human rights practices around the globe. It addresses developments in 58 countries, covering the period from November 2001 through November 2002. Most chapters examine significant human rights developments in a particular country; the response of global actors, such as the European Union, Japan, the United States, the United Nations, and various regional and international organisations and institutions; and the freedom of local human rights defenders to conduct their work.

InfoNation is an easy-to-use, two-step database that allows you to view and compare the most up-to-date statistical data for the Member States of the United Nations. It includes geography statistics, such as climate and CO2 emissions; economic statistics such as GDP and tourism figures; population statistics such as infant mortality and male/female ratios; and social indicators, such as life expectancy, literacy rates or number of refugees.

This contains the online versions of books previously published in hard copy by the Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress under the Country Studies/Area Handbook Program sponsored by the US Department of Army. Its main focus is on lesser known areas of the world or regions in which US forces might be deployed. Currently 101 countries and regions are covered. Notable omissions include Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and other Western nations, as well as a number of African nations. The date of information for each country appears on the title page of each country and at the end of each section of text.

It is searchable by region, thematic area (eg gender, environment), constituency group (eg young people, professionals) or by type of resource (eg maps, courses, news sources). You can also combine all or any of these categories.

One World Nations Online is a portal to information about almost every country in the world, a reference directory and an electronic magazine. This site includes links to governments and other sites for countries around the world, as well as links to international organisations, cities, and other resources.

Based at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, this is a cooperative project of The Ohio State University Libraries, the University of Minnesota Libraries, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries. It provides a user-friendly, searchable catalogue for access to high quality Web resources originating in Asia that have been selected by area library specialists.
