The electronic databases subscribed to by the Library provide access to more than 10,500 full-text journals. The following sites list a number of freely available electronic journals.

Free online journal databases

FindArticles [http://www.findarticles.com]
FindArticles.com is a vast archive of published articles that you can search for free. Constantly updated, it contains articles dating back to 1998 from more than 300 magazines and journals. You will find articles on a range of topics, including business, health, society, entertainment, sports and more. Unlike other online collections, each of the hundreds of thousands of articles in FindArticles can be read in its entirety and printed at no cost.

The Free Medical Journals Site is dedicated to the promotion of free access to medical journals over the internet.

Highwire Press [http://intl.highwire.org]
Internet imprint of Stanford University Libraries Press. Provides access to over 60 current full-text scientific periodicals. Particular subject strengths in health, biology and medicine. Features an extensive searchable abstract archive. Many of these journal titles have given access to their archived materials older than one year, and other journals have free access or free trials.

OAIster [http://oaister.umdl.umich.edu/index.html]
OAIster is a Mellon-funded project of the University of Michigan Digital Library Production Services. It provides access to a wide-ranging collection of free, useful, previously difficult-to-access digital resources.

Social Science Online Periodicals [http://www.unesco.org/shs/shsdc/journals/shsjournals.html] Produced by UNESCO, this site provides access to over 250 online journals in the areas of social sciences. The journals are organised by subject areas, such as History or Philosophy.

The University of Pennsylvania provides links to over 900 free online journals in a wide range of subject areas. They are listed as "unrestricted access".

Online journal locating services

AJOL [http://www.nla.gov.au/ajol/]
AJOL is the National Library of Australia's database of Australian electronic journals, magazines, webzines, newsletters and email fanzines. The database provides full details and access to over 1,700 titles that include local and overseas works with Australian content, authorship and/or emphasis as well as entries for sites which advertise or promote Australian journals.

AllAcademic is an academic index, designed to provide scholars and researchers with useful online source information about scholarly works. Links are direct from source citations to scholarly publications. All Academic catalogues free publications only.

AllAcademic Journal Search [http://www.allacademic.com/]
AllAcademic's searchable index allows you to search for academic publications with direct links to articles.

NewJour [http://gort.ucsd.edu/newjour/]
NewJour is an archive of journals and newsletters available on the internet. A description is included for each title. This list includes both free and subscription titles.
