Introduction to the Library workshops

Introduction to the Library sessions are usually offered during Orientation Week and the first three weeks of semester.

These sessions provide an introduction to Library services and resources.

Classes for international and mature age students contain the same content, but recognise that students have a variety of learning styles and experience.

Tutorials are held in the Library Computer Lab, Ground Floor. Classes for International Students ate held in the Library Computer Lab Level 1. Endnote tutorials are for staff, postgraduate and honours students only.

Tutorials after Orientation Week have hands-on experience and may include:

  • an introduction to the resources of an academic Library and searching the Library catalogue
  • principles of developing a research strategy, and literature searching with specific course reference tailored to an assignment, essay, or project
  • searching specific databases and other online information services
  • navigating the internet and conducting research on the web

Additional tutorials can be arranged by contacting the Faculty Librarians on Tel +61 7 5430 2807 or email infodesk@usc.edu.au
