Animal to Human Disease Transmission: Science versus Speculation

The School of Health and Sport Sciences invites you to a Community Information Session titled “Animal to Human Disease Transmission: Science versus Speculation”, presented by Professor Gregory Gray MD MPH.

Professor Gray is Director of the Centre for Emerging Infectious Diseases at the University of Iowa, USA, and is an international expert in emerging infectious diseases. His distinguished career includes positions with the US Department of Defence, as well as consulting for the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

He is visiting the Sunshine Coast as part of his collaboration on a local study of equine influenza exposure in humans. Professor Gray will address topics such as the potential for an influenza pandemic, as well as the possibility of bird, swine and horse flu transmission to humans.
