Making the most of online resources - Keep Pace Program
1 September, 2004
The University of the Sunshine Coast is presenting a free public
information evening on Wednesday, September 8 for people interested
in making the most of online resources.
Finding information and conducting research in an electronic
environment can be both exciting and challenging.
If you have trouble finding your way through the mass of
information available or you just don't know where to begin, come
along and get some tips from the experts.
Keep Pace coordinator Kylie McKenzie said the evening is aimed
at people in the community who are interested in gaining more from
their home computers.
"The evening will be presented by staff from the University
Library. They will be able to guide people through how to use
computers to research and source information," Ms McKenzie
said.
"More and more information is available on the Internet, from
house hunting to information on illnesses and being able to find
the information and determine its quality is an important
skill."
This introductory session will include an overview of the vast
range of online sources including the Internet, online journals and
newspapers.
The evening will also include information on how to develop
effective search strategies and how to evaluate information to
ensure that what you receive is accurate, relevant information.
The session is presented by university staff and is part of the
popular Keep Pace community education program, entry is free and
everyone is welcome.
Bookings are essential, please phone (07) 5459 4558 to secure
