Students ready to help with your event
22 July, 2005
Find out how students at the University of the Sunshine Coast
can assist you with your events at a special morning tea next
Tuesday, 26 July at 10am.
The University's Faculty of Business invites local business
people, event organisers and community groups to the morning tea to
discover how USC students can assist them with planning, promotions
and marketing their local events.
The University has 160 students studying Sport and Event
Marketing this semester and they all need first-hand experience
with events as part of their studies and to gain valuable real-life
experience to prepare them for employment when they graduate.
The Sunshine Coast is an "events" region with a wide variety of
sporting and community events and festivals throughout the year,
particularly during August, September and October.
Organising, planning and running events is demanding work and
many organisers would no doubt appreciate a helping hand on the day
and during the lead up.
The students will also complete written assignments which will
then be available to organisers to use as feedback for planning
future events.
The morning tea, hosted by Professor Deborah Ralston, Dean of
the Faculty of Business, will also include a discussion on
developing a USC Events Network and the concept and framework of a
Sunshine Coast Regional Event.
Event organisers are invited to attend to hear about events and
organisations USC students have already worked with, the courses
USC delivers and how you and your organisation can tap into the
knowledge and benefits of the USC Events Network.
The morning tea will be held between 10 and 11.30am on Tuesday
26 July in the University Function Hall next to the Brasserie.
